We’ve shared many photos from recent Academy conferences, but there is an added element beside the monstrous Big Food booths — the “educational material” available at these booths. We will share plenty of examples after this year’s conference in Houston later this year, but take a look at this handout from the Hershey booth last year.
It is essentially trying to pass off 100-calorie individual servings of candy as a way to reduced caloric intake throughout the day. What a novel idea! This is the food industry’s standard MO — focus on calories and weight loss, and pitch how your product is a “good choice” solely based on its caloric content.
