Thank you to Dietitians For Professional Integrity co-founder Denise Garbinski for bringing this to our attention. Denise writes:
“In what can only be described as a highly ironic development, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is now demanding that its members take a continuing education course in ethics. This is rich coming from an organization that doesn’t see an ethical dilemma in taking money from Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, and McDonald’s.
The Academy and its credentialing arm are on the right track in acknowledging the necessity for professional integrity. Now we want to see them lead by example in their words and deeds, starting with a new paradigm of transparency and integrity by aligning themselves with better and more appropriate sponsors and continuing education partners.”
