The latest issue of The Lancet contains a terrific infographic that wonderfully illustrates how government can support healthy food preferences.
“The food system is an interconnected network of producers, industry, and institutions. But at its heart is the individual. Policy can affect all parts of the network, influencing a cultural shift towards healthier food preferences.”
Much of this is applicable to health organizations like the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, which is supposed to be in the business of helping Americans live more healthfully.
Note that “sitting at the table” with industry — and taking their money — is not listed as a best practice.
