Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics partner Kellogg’s is (rightfully) coming under fire by the public health community.
Salud America!, part of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, has drafted a petition relating to “Días Grandiosos”, a Kellogg’s social media campaign that “that targets Latina moms with recipes they tout as saludable (healthy).”
The findings? The recipes leave a lot to be desired.
“Almost all the campaign’s recipes— 19 of the 29 recipes on its website— qualify as desserts based on their high sugar content, according to an independent nutritionist. Like:
* Five recipes using Rice Krispies and marshmallows;
* Cookies made with sugar, butter and crushed Pringles chips; and
* Ice cream stuffed in an Eggo waffle “taco shell.”
So much for the Academy’s partners aligning with the Academy’s mission and values!
