We’ve often talked about the food industry inserting itself into health and science professional organizations, and here is the latest example — PepsiCo “Journey Through Science Day” at the New York Academy of Sciences.
“[Fifty] early career scientists (MS, PhD, postdoc) will be selected for this unique opportunity to interact with PepsiCo’s R&D leadership, learn about their efforts to develop products rooted in science-based nutrition, get an exclusive glimpse of how science has shaped their careers, and gain an understanding of what it is like to work in a global team environment.”
We don’t deny the fact that food companies employ food technologists, but are Jacked 3D Doritos an example of products rooted in “science-based nutrition”?
We also wonder if this day of science will touch on the ever-growing body of science that shows how soda (PepsiCo’s flagship product) negatively affects health.
