Not at all surprisingly, the soda industry is responding to the publication of Marion Nestle’s latest book, Soda Politics.
As Dr. Nestle points out today:
“The industry group, IFIC (International Food Information Council), did a Food Insight on the book. I’m guessing the reviewer didn’t read it very carefully, since she seems to have missed my deliberately cautious interpretation of the science.”
Having read Soda Politics, we, too, find the review odd in that it appears to have been written after reading a handful of pages, rather than the book in its entirety.
And, predictably, the response is straight out of the soda industry playbook Dr. Nestle meticulously explains and dissects in the book.
