She is also the co-founder of IFNA™, the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy, a comprehensive online training and mentoring program designed to teach health care practitioners how to seek the true root causes of disease to restore optimal health and function and ultimately transform the practice of nutrition using the most effective integrative and functional nutrition diagnostic tools and treatment protocols for preventing and reversing chronic illness.

What does ‘professional integrity’ mean to you?

To me, professional integrity is about willingly and consistently holding true to my highest values and moral compass in all aspects of professional life. This includes having the courage to challenge the “status-quo” tactfully yet assertively, if and when necessary. In the words of Dr Martin Luther King, Jr., “the time is always right to do what is right”.

What words of encouragement do you have for RDs-to-be looking to make a significant contribution to our profession?

When you are working in a spirit of service, no matter how small you think your efforts may be, no matter how minor you may perceive your role, just know you ARE contributing to our profession in an important and meaningful way. Never underestimate yourself!

You never know what impact you’ve made on your patients, your colleagues, your students or your friends and family when you are working in a spirit of service. And when you find an area that you feel happy doing, then do more of it! Just get started and keep moving. Ask questions! Invest in continuing education because you are worth it. The journey of a million miles begins with a single step.

=========================================

Again, we extend our congratulations to Sheila and thank her for her important work and for representing the RD credential in such a positive light.
